To the Loyal Fans of the Louisiana IceGators,
As some of you have heard, there are some big changes on the horizon for the Home Team. After almost six weeks of working with Greg Davis and his staff at the Cajundome, a lease has been agreed upon moving Professional Hockey back to the original Frozen Swamp. I am very excited about this move. This is not to say the Blackham was not a great place to watch a hockey game, but to garner the support of the average family in Acadiana, more amenities were necessary.
As is often the case in this area we call home, another business deal was inadvertantly seeded at a local watering hole. While visiting Corner Bar, I ran into Chuck Anselmo Jr. and Sr. visiting with long time friend Dave Berryman. Naturally the topic of IceGator hockey came up and so goes the story. Three weeks later the conversation had grown from a benefit game for John Spoltore, to possible investment into the Franchise, to Majority ownership. The deal has been consumated and I believe the IceGators are in great hands. Chuck and his group are passionate about hockey and its existance in Lafayette. I look forward to the coming season and many to come, and ask everyone to help this new group carry on the Louisiana IceGator name and tradition. Lastly, I would like to thank all of those who have done so much to help me and my family bring back hockey to Acadiana. I will see you at the Dome!!
Danny
