McBrien Traded for Sicard

According to the SPHL, Louisiana tough guy McBrien has been traded to Huntsville for the infamous Dennis Sicard. According to several local individuals, however, McBrien will not be playing in Huntsville this season.

Sicard is known around the league to be a pest to opposing teams and is best known for not wearing shoulder pads so he can be a better fighter. Some say he is the pound for pound best fighter in the league, much to the dislike of Paul Mcbrien. Sicard and McBrien were involved in a scuffle after a close Icegators win in Huntsville last season.

It's tough to say what the fan reaction will be to this trade because Paul McBrien was a fan favorite and Dennis Sicard could be a hit or miss with the fans because of his style of play. From a hockey standpoint, this trade could help the Gators because Sicard can score goals when he is not in the penalty box. In 45 games last season Sicard racked up 234 penalty minutes but also had 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) before he was cut at the end of the season for undisclosed reasons. McBrien played in 47 games and scored 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) and racked up 271 penalty minutes.

Sometimes in sports your fiercest rivals quickly become your friends. Sicard is the type of player that you only like if he is on your team. We look forward to his entertaining style of play and hope that this increase in scoring production will help the IceGators have a very successful season.
