As reported earlier by Frozen Chomp, the Louisiana IceGators traded Paul McBrien for Dennis Sicard. However in smaller leagues such as the SPHL, trades are never certain because some players do not show for different reasons. There was some speculation as to if Sicard and McBrien would play this season but the first piece of the puzzle is in place.
Dennis Sicard will be wearing an IceGators jersey this season, bringing a fierce attitude along with added goals. A reported rule change this season is that only 17 players can be dressed for a game as opposed to 18 last season (18th man can be on bench in coaching capacity). One less player may not seem very big but I believe the first man to be cut will more than likely be the enforcers.
This signing is huge for the Gators because we have a goal scorer that can also take up for his teammates. Sicard brings along his ex-Havoc teammate, defenseman Martin Kubaliak. The Slovakian is a big 6 foot 3 shut down defenseman. Kubaliak played in over 50 games in each of the last 2 seasons with the Huntsville Havoc. Not only will these two players bring excitement to the Cajundome but will also bring their winning ways.
Hey guys I don't think you have heard but Martin Kubaliak has been traded to Knoxville.
