The Louisiana IceGators have signed 5 players that suited up in an IceGators jersey last season. The signings are three defensemen: Paul D'Agostino, Tobias Carlsson, and Jeff Beiber. They have also signed forward CJ Tozzo and goalie Adam Dekker.
Paul D'Agostino is a top rate defenseman in the SPHL. He joined the Gators midway through the season and appeared in 21 games. He scored 4 goals and added 4 assist but his greatest statistic is his plus/minus rating of +10. When a player is on the ice and his team scores he gets a + and when the other team score he gets a -. Since the IceGators let up many more goals than they scored last season his total of +10 is impressive and top 10 in the league.
Jeff Beiber was acquired from the Mississippi Surge with only 3 games remaining in the season. He played 51 games with the Surge and had 13 points. He only had 32 penalty minutes on the season which shows a great deal of discipline, which was lacking all season for the Gators. His poise and discipline will help the Gators this season.
Sweden native, Tobias Carlsson rejoins the Gators having been one of the only players to last the entire season in a Gators jersey last season. He appeared in 55 games and only had 70 penalty minutes which also shows a great amount of discipline.
CJ Tozzo is a small 5'9 forward that plays hard with a lot of heart. His offensive numbers last season did not jump off of the page, 12 points in 26 games, but prior to the IceGators, he has proved he is capable of scoring. Before joining the Gators, he played for the Brooklyn Aces of the EPHL and scored an astounding 96 points in 49 games. He will bring a lot of heart and energy to a talented group of fowards this season.
Adam Dekker was the last goalie to play for the Gators and only played in the last 6 games of the year but put up impressive numbers. He had a record of 4-1 with a 93% save percentage. Hopefully he can pick up where he left off last season.
The 2010-2011 Louisiana IceGators are setting up to have a very good team.
